The cost for a Title 24 Solution using LOSA is 3X less expensive than Wifi/PoE/Bluetooth/0-10v wired approaches.
In order to improve ROI, the cost of the lighting control system has to be under 1/2 of light fixture cost.
Cello Lighting control system is called LÖSA (Light-sensing, Occupancy-sensing, Smart-meter, Auto-demand-response) LÖSA uses the existing power lines as the communication media to control lighting. Consequently, it removes the cost of wiring, the cost of Ethernet cabling and the cost of wire/wireless transceivers. LÖSA 's only material cost of is a PLC master device shared by up to 20 light fixtures, a PLC sensor which includes an occupancy sensor, daylight sensor and a PLC modem attached with each light fixture.
The only labor cost is to install a PLC master shared by a group of up to 20 light fixtures.
This innovation from Cello Lighting eliminates the need for extra wire or wireless communication material/wiring or IP configuration labor.

ROI is the defining factor of the success of a lighting control project. Therefore a comprehensive budget and project length analysis is always crucial before a project plan is finalized.
In order to demonstrate the budget and project length analysis, we propose a sample lighting control project with 25 light fixtures and 5 light switches with every 5 light fixtures controlled by one light switch. The block diagram of the sample lighting system is illustrated here:
Furthermore, in order to standardize the comparison, we assume each original light fixture burns 120W, and is expected to burn 60W after being retrofitted with LED light fixture. The cost of a plain LED light fixture is assumed to be $60. Also the cost of IoT device, which is required to get connected to Internet and Cloud, is assumed to be $100. Last but not least, the labor cost is assumed to be $40 per hour.
Also in order to implement occupancy control and daylight harvest, each light fixture is associated with a sensor box/module with both occupancy and daylight sensors with a cost of $40. Plus, in order to implement Task Tuning / Auto Demand Response Dimming, there must be some communication link between IoT device and light fixtures so that users can send dimming control commands to light fixtures. For Wired Based Lighting Control, the commands are sent through the 0-10 dimming wires. So the cost of communication is the material and labor cost of 0-10v dimming wiring. For Wireless and PoE, the cost of communication means the cost of Transceivers, which is assumed to be $40 per unit. For LÖSA, the communication media is the existing power lines so there is no cost for the communication media for LÖSA. The parameters are summarized here:

But when compared to LÖSA-Tube (Type A), the Budget Ratio fro Wired: Wireless : PoE : LÖSA-Tube (Type A) is : 2.8: 3.3 : 3.9: 1. And the Lead-time Ratio is : 9.2: 9.2: 13.3: 1.
